Works great on a Raspberry Pi and UPB PIM under Ubuntu linux – Works great with a Raspberry Pi and UPB PIM under Ubuntu linux. I was getting errors from an older Prolific chipset based adapter. I’ll no longer be using Prolific based devices. FTDI seems more reliable. Ordered a 2nd since I like the first so well.

worked awesome. did exactly what i needed it to do. – had to upgrade apc smart ups units for a client and this cable let me do that without worrying about using an old computer with serial port on it. worked flawless recognized the apc smart cable on the other end with no issues. will hang onto it now for any future use i may need it for. thank you!

It works great with mspnp2 and tuner studio – I used this on the serial port of a Megasquirt stand alone. Installed driver on laptop and it started sending data like it should. Works great with TunerStudio

Just works – This adaptor plugs into a USB port on a computer and provides a 9 pin male “D” connector configured to look just like a serial port on a old computer. I use it to connect my old pre-USB serial devices (GPS, telescope, etc.) to modern computers without serial ports.

Perfect – This adapter works perfectly for me. I didn’t need to install any new drivers on my Windows 10 laptop. Love it.

There are two common Chipsets for USB to RS-232 cables… Prolific & FTDI (this one is FTDI) – I was trying to avoid buying a specialty device cable from the manufacturer. Think %1000+ markup (literally). I initially ordered another USB to RS-232 (prolific chipset) cable but failed to notice that the product drivers specified FDTI. This cable fits the bill and functions at a fraction of the cost. Generally speaking if you are using this cable for a DIY project I would say go ahead and pony up the couple extra dollars for the FDTI cable. It seems to play better with windows 10 (I am unfortunately forced to use) and after doing research into the subject is more compatible in general. I noticed a lot of one star reviews on the other cable stating it was DOA, I tend to believe that people failed to do their research and were unaware of the two common chipset styles that may or may not work in specific cases like mine.

    10. D. H (verified owner)

Excellent Interface for MorseKOB – I use this cable to interface between my laptops and the key-sounder interface for MorseKOB key-sounder or loop hardware interfaces.

The right cable – This was the right cable, the right number of pin. It did work.
